Organic peroxides are used as polymerization initiators and curing agents. They can decompose with heat, shock or contamination, and many types must be kept below a set temperature throughout transport. We arrange Class 5.2 exports from China by sea after confirming that the carrier will accept the specific product.
Products we commonly ship
- Benzoyl peroxide (BPO) used in plastics, resins and cosmetics
- Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) and other curing agents for fibreglass and unsaturated polyester resins
- Dicumyl peroxide and other cross-linking agents for rubber and polymers
Why Class 5.2 needs extra care
- Each organic peroxide is assigned a type (B to F) that sets packaging and quantity limits
- Many are temperature-controlled, with a control temperature and an emergency temperature that must not be exceeded
- Refrigerated containers, or carefully managed dry containers for products with a high threshold, may be required
- Some types are not accepted by certain carriers, or are forbidden on aircraft
Documents
- Current SDS with the organic peroxide type and control temperature
- Packaging inspection certificates for export from China
- Dangerous goods declaration and container packing certificate for sea shipments

FAQ
Can organic peroxides go by air?
Rarely. Many are forbidden by air or limited to small quantities of specific types. Sea freight is the usual route. Tell us the UN number and we will check.
Regulations are revised regularly. IMDG Code Amendment 42-24 is mandatory from 1 January 2026 and the 67th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations applies during 2026. Requirements vary by carrier, port and destination, so please contact us to confirm the rules for your specific shipment.
